Free Packaged HVAC System Giveaway in Decatur & Huntsville, AL: Nominate a Family in Need
As the weather cools down and the holiday season draws near, most conversations revolve around holiday meals, family gatherings, and plans for the new year. But across Decatur, Huntsville, and North Alabama, there are homes where the upcoming winter brings a heavy sense of dread instead of excitement.
Heating systems rarely break down when it’s convenient. When an aging unit gives out right before the holidays, the cost of a full replacement simply isn’t feasible for a family already stretched thin by daily expenses.
At Environmental Comfort Systems, we’ve lived and worked in this community for over 30 years. We believe that nobody should have to go to sleep wondering if their home will stay warm through the night.
To help ease that burden, we are hosting our 2026 ECS Gives Back Holiday System Giveaway, donating and professionally installing a brand-new packaged HVAC system, 100% free of charge, for a local household in need.
What We’re Providing
This giveaway is designed to provide long-term security, not just a temporary fix. Our team is delivering a complete, worry-free home heating and cooling setup:
- Brand-New American Standard Packaged HVAC System: A durable, high-efficiency system built to heat and cool the entire home from a single exterior unit.
- Full Professional Installation: Handled from start to finish by certified ECS technicians and Comfort Consultants.
- 10-Year Compressor Warranty: Complete manufacturer protection on the heart of the system.
- 10-Year Parts Warranty: Long-term coverage against unexpected mechanical repairs.
- 1-Year Labor Warranty + One Free Year of the ComfortCare Club: Includes routine seasonal maintenance, safety inspections, and priority care.
There are no hidden fees, labor charges, or strings attached.
Who Needs This Support the Most?
Hardship doesn’t always show on the outside. Often, the people facing the toughest winters are the ones quietly carrying the weight on their own shoulders.
Think about your friends, extended family, church community, and next-door neighbors. You might know someone living in one of these situations:
- A fixed-income senior who runs portable space heaters from room to room because their central system blew a motor months ago.
- A hardworking family struggling under the weight of unexpected medical bills or job loss, forced to choose between groceries and an expensive heating repair.
- A home where the unit runs non-stop, driving utility bills through the roof while only blowing cool or lukewarm air.
- Your own family. If you are reading this while staring at a broken thermostat, please submit your own story.
How to Submit a Nomination
We’ve kept the application straightforward so anyone can participate:
- Visit the Gives Back Page: Go directly to envcomfort.com/give-back.
- Tell Us Their Story: Share what this family or individual is going through and why a new heating system would bring relief to their home.
- Upload a Photo of the Data Tag: Take a quick, legible picture of the metal manufacturer plate/label on the side of the existing outdoor unit. This allows our team to confirm that the electrical service and ductwork match a new package unit.
- Submit by November 23: All entries must be submitted by Monday, November 23, 2026, at 5:00 PM CST.
You are welcome to submit nominations for multiple families if you know more than one household facing hardship.
How the Selection Process Works
Because installing a package unit requires specific technical compatibility with a home’s ductwork and electrical panel, our selection process includes a safety check:
- Step 1: ECS leadership will carefully review every story and select a shortlist of 3 to 5 finalists by December 1st.
- Step 2: An ECS Comfort Consultant will conduct a brief, courtesy on-site visit to each finalist’s home to evaluate the current unit, ensure proper clearances, and confirm the home can safely support the replacement system.
- Step 3: The final recipient will be chosen and announced early Dec – mid Dec with installation coordinated in time for the holidays.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible to win?
The nominee must own and reside in their single-family home within our standard service area (approximately a 30-mile radius around Decatur, AL, including Huntsville, Madison, Athens, and Hartselle).
Why must the home currently have a “packaged” system?
A packaged unit contains both the heating and cooling components in one single metal cabinet installed outside the home, connected directly to ductwork. Homes with split systems (an outdoor unit paired with an indoor furnace in an attic or closet) require completely different mechanical and structural configurations that do not match the equipment donated for this program.
Is there a limit on nominations?
No. You can nominate as many neighbors or families as you like.
