5 Tips for Ultimate Home Comfort This Fall
Fall Home Comfort
It’s finally Fall, and while it may still be warm outside right now in the Tennessee Valley, we’ll all be turning on our heat soon enough. Make sure your home is ready for the changing seasons by following these 5 simple tips for ultimate indoor comfort this fall. As always, if you have any questions or concerns about your comfort system, give us a call at 256-308-0032. We’ll be happy to help with your heating and cooling needs.
1. Change Your Air Filter
Changing your air filter should be done every 1-3 months, depending on your system, and fall is no exception. Dirty filters restrict airflow while also limiting the efficiency of your system. Making sure your filter is clean before turning on the furnace is the first step to having increased system efficiency and ultimate home comfort this fall.
2. Check for Drafts
Checking windows and doors for any drafts is next on your list. This is also important in increasing efficiency and keeping you comfortable. If any cold air is leaking in or out of your home, your system is going to run more than it needs to, which will drive up your energy bills. Ensure warm air stays inside and cold air stays outside by checking all doors and windows and making any necessary adjustments. Weatherstripping is simple to install and may fix any minor drafts you have around your home. These are small fixes that could save you a lot of money.
3. Clean Your Vents
Cleaning and unblocking all registers goes hand in hand with changing your filter. The more regularly you have to change your filter, especially if you have multiple shedding pets, the more regularly you should be cleaning your air vents. Go around with a duster and vacuum cleaner to ensure that all dust is removed from vents and registers. This will ensure clean air is passing through them into your home.
4. Clean Around The Outdoor Unit
Cleaning your outdoor unit of debris is an imperative step on your checklist, especially in fall. If your outdoor system is surrounded by a ton of leaves, airflow could be restricted which could lead to system inefficiency and possible system damage. Clear your outdoor unit of fallen leaves, limbs, weeds, and other debris every one to three weeks, depending on the area where your unit sits.
5. Get Preventative Maintenance
Preventative maintenance is important for a number of reasons, especially when the weather starts to change. Regular preventative maintenance increases the longevity of your system, prevents costly repairs, and ensures the highest efficiency from your comfort system.
